Apple Insider reported that in the support page update, Apple has announced that it will bring the same feature in iPad OS. The support page, titled “Use 5G with your iPad,” explains to users how to manage their data connection on the updated iPad Pro models. 

Mac rumors spotted that users can now tell Apple iPad Pro 2021 to “Allow More Data on 5G“. Additionally, in a section about data modes They have an option to “Allow More Data on 5G”. Using this feature, users allow iOS to use more data in its various system tasks and for app features such as higher-quality FaceTime video feeds or high-definition content streams.

Apple warns that the setting will be set as default for some users with unlimited data plans, depending on the carrier. Whereas, for other users, it has to be enabled manually. “Allow More Data on 5G” option will allow Apple iPad Pro 2021 to carry out updates over cellular.

How to enable 5G in Apple iPad Pro 2021?

Here are the steps to enable the cellular over-the-air Apple iPad Pro 2021:

  1. Firstly, users need to open the Settings app. 
  2. select Cellular Data.
  3. Go to Cellular Data Options
  4. Tap Data Mode. 
  5. Select Allow more data on 5G.

Besides this, the same section has the existing options for Standard and Low Data Mode, which maintain or reduce the amount of data being used on cellular and Wi-Fi.

Which iPhone models support 5G?

The current iPhone 12 range all support 5G, meaning you can get 5G with the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

However, none of the previous iPhone models support 5G and they will never be able to. That includes the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and the iPhone SE 2020.
