Stop IGTV App – According to a report – Instagram says it will no longer maintain a different app. Instead it will focus to keep all video in Instagram App only. While the writing has been on the wall for Instagram’s YouTube competitor for just some while; the formal suspension announcement marks the end of the era for one of the company’s video forays.

Instagram says it is indeed trying to get rid of the standalone IGTV app as part of its “attempts to make video as simple to explore and produce as possible,” according to the article. Moreover,  Instagram is also working in a consistent way to share various types of videos.

Any video in the main app will also have a full-screen viewer and tap-to-mute, and Instagram is working on a uniform approach to share the multiple types of videos. Later this year, Instagram plans to “try a new ad experience on Instagram that will allow makers to earn cash from ads placed on their reels”.

In 2018, Instagram launched the standalone IGTV app, which was designed to compete with YouTube by permitting users to create long-form vertical videos. Instagram was actively supporting the IGTV material in the main Instagram app less than a year later; with videos appearing on the Explore page and previews appearing in stories and the main feed.

Instagram withdrew the IGTV icon from the main app in 2020, citing the fact that few people utilised it. Moreover, late last year, the company revealed that IGTV would be rebranded as “Instagram TV,” with the hour-long length limit that IGTV has coming to ordinary videos as well.
