Donkey Kong– In the past decade, Nintendo has released several releases of Donkey Kong. The franchise has been largely dormant since Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong 64, in addition to Tropical Freeze, which was released on the Wii U back in 2014 and only recently released on the Switch.
However, there are rumors that Nintendo may resurrect the series by developing it in-house, with development currently underway at Nintendo EPD, the same team that created Super Mario Odyssey.
The rumour has been discussed on social media by the YouTuber LonelyGoomba, as well as other sources. Despite this, Nintendo Life can confirm that it a reliable. It is in the independent source which has confirmed the same word, providing credibility to this report. Our original, however, claims that the game will feature a 2D (or 2.5D, if you prefer) screen instead of a 3D one.
What’s in the rumors of Nintendo?
It was UK developer Rare that developed three games related to it for the Super Nintendo in the 1990s. After arcade and NES releases and an excellent Game Boy release. Game Boy and Game Boy Advance versions of DKC were also there. After Microsoft acquired rare, Nintendo licensed the property to Retro Studios in Texas, which created Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii and Tropical Freeze for the PS3.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Donkey Konga, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong are among the many spin-off titles from the series over the years.
Next Donkey Kong – What’s exciting
YouTuber LonelyGoomba tweeted about it, and Nintendo Life later confirmed that the development team behind Super Mario Odyssey. It is in the process of creating a game. Unlike Odyssey, these sources claim this new game will be in a 2D or 2.5D format rather than pure 3D. In addition, video game news leaker Zippo claims that the classic Donkey Kong’s Country title won’t be returning in this new instalment. Still, series mainstays Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong, and the Kremling Krew will make an appearance. Additionally, there might be an official announcement at next month’s E3.
