Walmart seeks crypto expert – Among a growing number of major corporations exploring Bitcoin’s viability, Walmart seeks crypto expert to develop a blockchain strategy.

According to a job posting on the retail giant’s website, the candidate will task with defining the company. It is with “digital currency strategy and product roadmap” and identify “crypto-relating investment and partnerships.” Walmart’s corporate office in Bentonville, Arkansas, will be home to the senior director.

 

The job description does not indicate the specific intentions of Walmart seeks crypto expert but refers to “a wide range of payment options available both in-store and online.” The company didn’t immediately answer a request for additional information.

Walmart’s recruitment effort follows a similar job posting by Amazon.com Inc. several weeks ago, indicating that the biggest retailers in the U.S. may soon accept cryptocurrency payments. Earlier this year, PayPal started enabling customers in selected countries to buy, sell, and hold digital currencies through its Venmo app. Last week, it expanded the service to everyone.

Walmart’s specific intentions were not immediately clear, but the job description refers to “a range of payment options in-store and online” for its customers. Upon requesting more information, the company did not respond immediately. 

Walmart’s effort comes several weeks after competitor Amazon.com Inc. posted a similar job listing. indicating that one of the biggest retailers in America may soon allow customers to pay for purchases with cryptocurrencies. Earlier this year, PayPal started enabling customers in selected countries to buy, sell. Hold digital currencies through its Venmo app. Last week, it expanded the service to everyone.
